PICT Goes LIVE for BLOOMSDAY 2020

The pubs may be closed, but Bloomsday is alive and well at PICT Classic Theatre!

Join us for a virtual Bloomsday celebration, LIVE on Facebook on Tuesday, June 16th.

Tune in at the top of each hour from 12pm-7pm for selected readings of James Joyce’s ULYSSES.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

KEN BOLDEN (Telemachus) PICT Credits: Oliver Twist (Mr. Sowerbury), Great Expectations (Pumblechook), Waiting For Godot (Lucky), The Crucifer Of Blood (Ross), and many others. He has worked extensively in the Pittsburgh theatre community at the Public, City Theatre, Barebones, Bricolage, Off the Wall, and Quantum. Film work includes Little Evil, Fathers And Daughters, Sorority Row, Marshall, and the award-winning short films Sherlock Holmes And The Furtive Festivity and Lightheaded. He is a grateful member of AEA and SAG/AFTRA.

KAREN BAUM (Calypso) Karen has over 20 PICT credits to her name, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Woman in Black, Jane Eyre (Jane), The Heiress, The Old Curiosity Shop, Shirley Valentine (Shirley), Educating Rita (Rita), Sive, Romeo & Juliet (Nurse), The Merchant of Venice, Sharon’s Grave, Oliver Twist (Nancy), and The Woman & Scarecrow (Scarecrow). Pittsburgh Credits: Pittsburgh Public Theater, St. Vincent Summer Theatre, Off the Wall, The REP, NoName Players, UnSeam’d Shakespeare, Bricolage, and Squonk Opera Regional: Public Theatre of KY, Theatre54 NY, and various Chicago venues. Film/TV: Promised Land, The Outsiders, The Road, My Bloody Valentine 3D, KillPoint (Spike TV), The War that Made America (PBS), pilot cast of Ghosthunters: PSI, The Magic Words and A Fancy Piece of Homicide. A BFA grad of Point Park, Karen is also a teaching artist for PICT, The Public, Hope Academy, and Colfax.

JAMES FITZGERALD (Hades) PICT credits: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Quince/Egeus), The Woman in Black (The Actor), Waiting for Godot (Didi), Oedipus (Tieresius), Sive (Thomasheen Sean Rua) The Merchant of Venice (Shylock), Sharon’s Grave (Dinzie), Oliver Twist (Fagin), The Heiress (Dr.
Sloper); as well as 25 other PICT productions. Other Pittsburgh credits: Kinetric Theater, City Theater, Quantum Theatre, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Opera Theatre Pittsburgh, and The REP. Chicago credits: Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater, Chicago’s Second City, ETC., The Royal George, Apple Tree, among other Chicago venues including sixteen seasons with Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Awards: Recipient of two Joseph Jefferson Awards (Best Supporting Actor), a Jeff Citation (Best Actor), Jeff nomination for Best Actor, and an OE Award Nomination (Best Supporting Actor). James is a company member of PICT and Featured Artist in 2014. He was also named Performer of the Year 2016 by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

MARTIN GILES (Lestygonians) has participated in the making of theatre with PICT Classic Theatre for the better part of the last two decades. Most recently, playing Mr. Kipps in The Woman in Black and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In these times of strangeness and needed change it’s gravely vital and a great consolation to speak the words of an artist like James Joyce who wanted nothing more than to show us our whole humanity.

SAIGE SMITH (Nausicaa) is so grateful to be able to work with PICT again this year! Professional credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hermia) with PICT, Beyond The Moon (Mae Jemison) with Pittsburgh CLO, The Shakespeare Show with TheatreSquared based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Welcome to Moonside (Dawn) With Vigilance Theater, The Monologue Project, and The Dramatists Guild Conference of 2018. Conservatory credits include Big Love (Olympia), The House of Bernarda Alba (Poncia), The Bluest Eye (Frieda), The Sea (Mafanwy), 1940s Radio Christmas Carol (Margie). Saige is a 2018 Alumna of Point Park University’s BFA MT program.

JONATHAN VISSER (Eumaeus)  Jonathan is a proud graduate of the Masters program at the University of Tennessee, and the Bachelors program of Southern Methodist University. He has taught Acting, Audition Technique, Movement and Stage Combat at The University of Tennessee, CLO Academy, Point Park University and PMT. Local Credits: PICT, Quantum, The Public, City Theater, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, The Rep, Bricolage, TACT, Pittsburgh CLO, and Front Porch Theatricals. Regional Credits: The Dallas Theater Center, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Casa Manana, Clarence Brown Theater, Hope Summer Rep, and PCPA. Film/TV Credits: The Last Witch Hunter, Into the Dark, 5th Dimension. Banshee.

ALLISON SVAGDIS (Ithaca) is thrilled to become a new member of the PICT family! Allison is a recent graduate of Point Park’s BFA Acting program. Theatre credits include Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter, Susan in Vinegar Tom and Ashleigh in Horse Girls. @alli_laine. www.allisonsvagdis.com

HAZEL CARR LEROY (Ithaca) earned an M.F.A. in acting/directing from the University of Oklahoma and a Ph.D. in theatre history from the University of Pittsburgh. An adjunct professor of theatre history at Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts, Hazel has appeared in improvisational projects, classical works, original plays by Pittsburgh playwrights, immersive theatre, and Zoom readings. She has worked with Bricolage, Throughline, Non-State Actors, Pittsburgh Playwrights, Vigilance, 12 Peers, Pittsburgh Classic Players, and is featured in the television pilot Mulligan. She is a proud member of USW, Local 1088 which represents adjunct faculty at Point Park and Robert Morris universities.

LISA ANN GOLDSMITH (Penelope) is thrilled to be playing with PICT!  Lisa Ann has appeared locally and regionally with such companies as Arkansas Rep, Primary Stages, Theatre by the Sea, Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Public Theater, and many others. She is the co-host of The Bardcast: “It’s Shakespeare, You Dick!” a cheeky, irreverent yet informative deep-dive into all things Shakespeare, available on Apple, Spotify and all other podcast platforms.
