THE EVOLUTION OF THE STAGE
The History of Theatrical Spaces with Alan Stanford
MARCH 12, 2021 | 2pm ET
Over the two and a half thousand years since theatre was formally structured, the shape and function of the acting area, or ‘stage’ has altered in many ways. Such alteration was caused by everything from climate to comfort. Theatre has taken place in a multitude of settings and locations and each of these have added to, and sometimes detracted from, the manner in which plays are presented and enjoyed. This week we will look at the evolution of stages and the way audiences can engage with the plays presented on them.
