On Saturday, March 19, over 150 guests gathered in Carnegie Science Center’s Point View Hall to celebrate the silver anniversary of PICT Classic Theatre. Board Co-President Joseph Parsons and Guest of Honor Sally Wiggin opened the evening with warm remarks on both the necessity of art to our local and global communities, and the vast accomplishments in PICT’s history – most notably their adaptability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Art tells us who we were, and who we are,” said Artistic & Executive Director Alan Stanford, “and PICT is proud to produce art that is not only dedicated to the craft of classic text, but that is also a reflection of our community: a company of Pittsburgh, by Pittsburgh, and for Pittsburgh.”

Company Founders Andrew Paul & Stephanie Riso were honored for their contributions to the company’s 25-year success, as were all those who had previously served on PICT’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Stanford and Resident Costume Designer Joan Markert presented actors Karen Baum and James FitzGerald with the 2022 DAGDA Award for artist excellence, citing Baum & FitzGerald’s unparalleled skill in the craft of classic theatre and their immense body of work on both Pittsburgh and national stages.

Guests then danced the night away to a live performance from the Bachelor Boys Band and toasted to the next quarter century of PICT in Pittsburgh under a gorgeous, glittering skyline.
