“If You Have Tears…” That quote from Mark Antony in his oration over the body of Caesar is an incitement to cry. And whether they be tears of joy or of grief, it is a very human response.
But what is it that elicits such emotion in the theatre? And for that matter, how does theatre trick us into crying? This week we will examine how theatre can play on our emotions and brings us – quite literally – to tears.
