Julius Caesar: The Politics of Power

The first session of our 2021 Webinar Series! Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s finest plays. It follows actual history to a far greater degree than many of the other History plays. But its potency lies in its examination of political manipulation. In this week’s webinar we will be examining just two scenes from the play; one of which contains two remarkable political speeches and the other demonstrating the power that such words can have over the listening mob. This aspect of the play demonstrates to us the power of words – and how words can be the most dangerous weapon known to humankind.
