Seeking Equity & Non-Equity Video Submissions for the following staged reading projects:

Selection 1: An Improbable Fiction by James DeVita
Directed by Robin Walsh
Rehearses November 16-20, 2021
Performs November 21 at 2pm & 7pm

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Please prepare a brief Shakespearean monologue of your choosing. You may choose one of the
passages that these characters would speak, but it is not necessary. Videos should begin with a slate
of your name and home city, and should be no longer than 2 minutes in length. If you are auditioning
for the Messenger, please include a couple of a cappella stanzas of any Shakespearean or classic
song in your submission. PICT is committed to a casting focus that is intentionally inclusive and local to the Greater Pittsburgh Area. All are welcome.

SEEKING:
SIR JOHN FALTAFF – (50+, Identifies as male) Comic and Boastful. This role is cast
MISTRESS QUICKLY – (50+, Identifies as female) bar-maid, warm hearted, caretaker
MESSENGER – (Gender fluid, under 35) Able to assume multiple personas, comfortable singing a
cappella, comedic timing important. Messenger will sing a cappella in the production.
OTHELLO – (Black, Identifies as male, 30 – 45) Commanding presence, romantic warrior, crazy in love
with his wife, Desdemona however, insecure in her fidelity
CLEOPATRA – (Identifies as female, 30-45) Commanding, royal, remembered for her passionate love
affairs; upset that her sharp intelligence and compassion can be overlooked
JULIET – (Identifies as female, 18+ to play teenager) Teenager; passionate, hormonal, rebellious; but in
times in crisis, her maturity shines through


Selection 2: Cottagers & Indians by Drew Hayden Taylor
Directed by Vanessa Vivas
